2020...the year for new (or re)vision

This year ends with a full moon, which seems fitting, somehow.

I spent my birthday on the 20th driving around the mountains of West Virginia, where I purchased a little plot of land in Hardy County earlier this year. I pulled over by the river Cacapon (‘healing waters’ in the native language) to take off my shoes, walk barefoot through the snow, and stand in the ice-cold, eastern-flow of the ancient tributary. Something I may not share with everyone, obviously.
How'd you spend your birthday?!

But it felt correct. I have been connecting with the natural world more and more of late as part of a reset of sorts. It feels like some sort of "a great reset"...

I plan on opening a business in Moorefield, WV in 2021. My father was born in Charleston, I have some land in Lost River, and the mountains pull at me. When I can, I spend much of my free time driving around exploring...and even meeting new people, which is something I have not exactly felt drawn to do recently. West Virginia has been a saving grace in many ways.

This Great Quieting has been interesting, and it feels to me an almost inevitable thing. The world needed a pause, as we have collectively been on a rather strange trajectory for quite a while now in terms of the shared human experience. I pray that Good ultimately comes from it.

Fire and Water

What is flame?

Is it burning air?

Should One wonder?

Should any One care?

The infusement of Ether

Ablaze to witness

Inspires one truly

About human sickness

Sickness unspecific

Not central nor whole

But sporadic, yet powerful

Paid out on the dole

We absorb and we share

Truths? Ha, irrelevant

To say this and that

...Nothing elegant

The aim is to fight

Divide, conquer and suppress

Viewpoints that empower

Better, apparently, to be under duress

No! The Self screams

Somehow, I know

That this is impossible

To bury Self so

It is impossible...

Indeed and because

The Self is stronger

Than any one cause

Cause for question, anger,

Frustration, disdain

As natural and relevant

As snowfall or rain

But water does fall,

Diverse in its structure

An inevitability no power

Over which we can muster

H2O’s amorphous nature

Doesn’t end civilization

Because we know how

To move with creation

So as we create

And recall sovereignty

Let us also remember

That it’s just you and me

The metallurgy of this time

Allows us to look into the light

But be kept in darkness by desire

We move faster

We think bigger

But we know less

In the age of knowledge

Wisdom has greatly suffered

Been injured

And rejected

And yet the Age of Love

Understanding and Compassion

Is upon us

We exhaust the earth and our bodies and our minds

We exhaust

Our Selves and thus the Earth

The Earth and thus our Selves

Oh the moon

Oh the moon

Its changes seen through clouds

And in clear skies too

We must Be

For there is not a functional

The idea of Self

Holds only in freedom

To Be

To Live

To Espouse

The ever changing

The auto-correcting, mass-marketing algorithm that is modern life

We must mourn

We must believe

And we must build

Celebrating sovereignty
